In November 2006, U2 was in the midst of their ambitious Vertigo Tour, promoting the album "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" which had been released back in late 2004. By the time they performed "Kite" at Telstra Stadium in Sydney, their career had reached a significant zenith—not only were they showcasing their evolved sound and deeper lyrical introspections, but they were also riding high on a wave of commercial success and critical acclaim. Interestingly, "Kite" holds a special place in the band's repertoire, as it was partly inspired by lead singer Bono's experiences with fatherhood and loss. This live performance, being the penultimate song of the tour, demonstrates the band's knack for connecting emotionally with their audience, wrapping up the show with a contemplative note that left fans buzzing.
