Just before this live recording, they released 'Goo' in 1990, which marked their major label debut and featured popular tracks like 'Kissability' and 'Dirty Boots.' During this period, the band was deeply entrenched in the alternative rock scene, exploring avant-garde elements that both challenged and expanded the genre's boundaries. Post the Rennes show, they would continue to evolve with their 1994 album 'Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star.'
