Sonic Youth

In the summer of 1997, Sonic Youth performed "Wildflower" at the Tibetan Freedom Concert held at Downing Stadium in New York City. This performance came shortly after the release of their critically acclaimed album "Dirty" in 1992, which was pivotal in solidifying their place in the alternative rock scene. By this time, Sonic Youth had established a unique sound that melded noise rock with punk influences. Interestingly, the band was deeply involved in social and political issues, which aligned perfectly with the concert's mission to support Tibetan independence.
