Sonic Youth

In July 1998, when Sonic Youth performed 'French Tickler' at the Rockwave Festival in Athens, they were riding high on the wave created by their influential album 'A Thousand Leaves,' which had been released just a couple of months earlier. This album, noted for its experimental sound and intricate layers, allowed the band to further establish their reputation in the alternative rock scene. At that time, they were embracing a more avant-garde approach, delving into improvisational elements which can be heard in this live performance. Interesting enough, the band often drew influences from their surroundings, and playing in Greece would have added a unique flavor to their already eclectic sound. This concert is a perfect snapshot of Sonic Youth’s dynamic energy and their ability to connect with audiences worldwide.
