Neutral Milk Hotel

On June 27, 1998, Neutral Milk Hotel performed at the Covered Dish in Gainesville, Florida, during a pivotal moment in their career. Just a few years prior, in 1996, the band released their landmark album 'On Avery Island,' which showcased their unique blend of lo-fi sounds, surrealistic lyrics, and heartfelt melodies. By this time, they were starting to gain a dedicated following, thanks in part to the band's enigmatic frontman, Jeff Mangum. Interestingly, this live recording captures the raw energy and emotion that characterized their early shows, before their iconic album 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea' garnered them widespread acclaim just a year later in 1998.
