Neutral Milk Hotel

On September 14, 1997, Neutral Milk Hotel delivered a captivating performance at the Broad River Outpost in Danielsville, GA, a little oasis for indie music lovers. By this time, the band had just released their landmark album, 'On Avery Island,' a few months earlier in March. This album, filled with rich instrumentation and evocative lyrics, was essential in carving out their distinct sound. Interestingly, this recording captures the raw energy of a band on the brink of something big; the quirky, lo-fi charm of their live shows became legendary. Their next studio effort, 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea,' wouldn’t come until 1998, but it’s fascinating to see just how they were evolving creatively in the intimate setting of a small venue like this one.
