Oasis

In the live recording of "Cigarettes & Alcohol," which took place on November 30, 1996, Oasis was riding high on the success of their second studio album, "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" released just a month prior in October. This album featured some of their biggest hits, including "Wonderwall" and "Don’t Look Back in Anger." By this point, Oasis had firmly established themselves as one of the leading bands of the Britpop movement, and the energy in the GMEX is palpable. An interesting tidbit is that this show in Manchester wasn't just another gig; it was a homecoming of sorts for the band, drawing a passionate local crowd that amplified the atmosphere.
