By August 2009, The Pretenders were well into their journey, celebrating a legacy that began in the late 1970s. Just before this live recording at Malkin Bowl, they released their album 'Break Up the Concrete' in 2008, which marked a return to their rock roots and showcased a blend of eclectic influences. It's fascinating to note that the band, led by the iconic Chrissie Hynde, has always had a knack for intertwining personal experiences with their music—'My City Was Gone' reflects Hynde's nostalgia for her hometown of Akron, Ohio.
