The Killers - Live Performance of 'Spaceman' on Letterman

Date: 2003

The live performance of "Spaceman" on January 1, 2003, occurred shortly after the release of The Killers' debut album, "Hot Fuss," which came out in June 2004. At this point in their career, the band was gaining significant traction, having already released their hit singles "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me," which had begun to receive widespread acclaim. "Spaceman," released later in 2006 as part of their third studio album, "Day & Age," showcases the band’s evolution and the shift to a more polished pop-rock sound. The performance not only highlights their early energetic stage presence but also illustrates their rapid rise in the music scene, emphasizing themes of longing and alienation which became prevalent in their work. By this time, The Killers were establishing themselves as a staple in the early 2000s rock revival.
