Jethro Tull

In May 1978, Jethro Tull was riding high on the waves of their previous albums, particularly 'Songs from the Wood,' which had been released just a year earlier. This album marked a significant moment in their evolution, embracing a more pastoral and folk-inspired sound. By the time of the concert at the Hammersmith Odeon, 'Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die!' had also recently dropped, blending rock with theatrical storytelling. It’s interesting to note that the band, known for its unique fusion of rock and progressive elements, was led by the charismatic Ian Anderson, who often made his flautist skills the focal point of their performances. The 1978 live performance captures the band in full swing, showcasing both their musical prowess and their theatricality, which would become a hallmark of their live shows.
