Genesis

In 1980, Genesis was riding high on the success of their album 'Duke,' which was released just a couple of months prior to this live performance at the Lyceum Ballroom in London on May 7. The album marked a significant transition for the band, showcasing a more pop-oriented sound while still retaining their progressive rock roots. 'Duke' featured hits like 'Turn It On Again' and 'Misunderstanding,' which became fan favorites. Interestingly, this live recording captures Genesis in a particularly vibrant phase, as they were celebrating their growing popularity and engaging with fans in an energetic way. The band had really come into their own after the departure of Peter Gabriel in the mid-70s, and they were now fronted by Phil Collins, whose charismatic stage presence truly shone during this performance.
