The Strokes

In June 2004, The Strokes were riding the wave of their immensely successful album 'First Impressions of Earth,' which had been released just a few months earlier in January. This live performance of 'New York City Cops' featuring Slash at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre showcases the band's raw energy and the growing buzz around them during this pivotal moment in their career. It's interesting to note that 'New York City Cops' was originally part of their debut album, 'Is This It,' but was omitted from the U.S. version post-September 11 due to its controversial lyrics. By this time, The Strokes were solidifying their status as garage rock revival leaders, and the collaboration with Slash adds a unique flavor to the set, blending their edgy sound with the iconic guitarist’s flair.
