The Strokes

In January 2003, The Strokes were riding high on the success of their debut album, *Is This It*, which was released in July 2001. The live performance of "Under Control" on Conan provided a glimpse into their burgeoning fame, as they were beginning to establish themselves as a key player in the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. Notably, "Under Control," which features on their third album, *First Impressions of Earth* (released in January 2006), was still a few years away from being part of their setlist. This performance aired during a pivotal moment when The Strokes were transitioning from indie darlings to mainstream rock icons, drawing a growing audience with their distinctive sound and stylish aesthetic.
