In June 2015, Modest Mouse was riding high off the release of their much-anticipated album 'Strangers to Ourselves,' which dropped earlier that March. This was their first studio album in over a decade, marking a significant return for the band after the success of 'We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank' in 2007. During their live performance of 'Dramamine' at the Firefly Festival, the band's blend of indie rock, complex instrumentation, and introspective lyrics shone through, capturing a nostalgic essence that fans had come to love. Interestingly, 'Dramamine' dates back to their 1996 debut, 'This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About,' showing how their early works continue to resonate, even in the context of their newer material. This performance highlighted not just their evolution, but also their commitment to remaining a staple in the indie rock scene.
