On July 19, 2017, Violent Femmes performed at EXPRESS LIVE! in Columbus, Ohio, showcasing their enduring appeal well into their career. By this time, they had released 'We Can Do Anything' in 2016, marking a return to their roots after a hiatus. It’s fascinating to see them live, still blending that punk-folk charm that first captured fans back in the '80s. This performance not only demonstrated their ability to captivate audiences but also underlined their evolution—while keeping that signature sound, they've seamlessly integrated newer elements. Though they were the opening act for Echo & the Bunnymen, they undeniably proved that their raw energy and storytelling prowess remain unmatched, possibly even stealing the spotlight from the headliner!
