Guided By Voices Live Performance of Tractor Rape Chain from Crying Your Knife Away
In the summer of 1994, when Guided by Voices performed 'Tractor Rape Chain' live at Stache's in Columbus, they were riding a wave of burgeoning indie rock fame. This performance came shortly after the release of their influential album 'Bee Thousand,' which dropped earlier that same year. Widely regarded as a landmark in lo-fi rock, 'Bee Thousand' solidified the band's unique aesthetic, packed with catchy hooks and genuine rawness. Interestingly, this live recording captures the energy and earnestness of a band at the peak of their underground popularity, with a dedicated fanbase singing along. It's worth noting that the band's frontman, Robert Pollard, was known for his prolific songwriting, and by this time, Guided by Voices was already working on new material that would further push the boundaries of their distinctive sound.
