Guided by Voices

During the time of this live recording on August 8, 2018, Guided by Voices had just released their album "How Do You Spell Heaven" earlier that same year. This album marked a continuation of their prolific output, following the band's usual practice of blending lo-fi garage pop with this signature songwriting style, rich in catchy choruses and layered melodies. Fittingly, the performance at Saturn in Birmingham showcased their energetic stage presence, beautifully capturing the essence of their live sound. Interestingly, this came right after a series of reunion albums, emphasizing how the band's dynamic lineup, led by the ever-charismatic Robert Pollard, had been revitalizing their classic sound, much to the delight of long-time fans and new listeners alike.
