In late October 1999, moe. was in a vibrant phase of their career, following the release of their album 'Tin Cans and Car Tires' just a few months earlier, in July. At this point, the band was building a dedicated fan base within the jam scene, known for their improvisational style and energetic performances. The live recording of 'Water → Moth' at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia captures the essence of their live shows—brimming with spontaneity and musical exploration. Interestingly, this was a period when moe. was solidifying their identity beyond just a touring band; they were becoming a prominent name in the burgeoning jam band community.
