Umphrey’s McGee

In August 2015, when Umphrey's McGee performed "Night Nurse" at The Fillmore in Charlotte, they were well-established in their career as a prominent jam band, having formed in 1997. Prior to this live recording, the band released their album "Similar Skin" in 2014, which marked their first album as a completely independent band after leaving their record label. This independence allowed them greater creative control, reflected in their evolving sound that blends rock, jazz, and progressive influences. By 2015, Umphrey's McGee had developed a reputation for their dynamic live performances and intricate improvisation skills, making them a favorite in the live music scene.
