In 1996, when Pink Floyd performed "Wish You Were Here" with Billy Corgan at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the band was not in its most active period. This performance took place shortly after the release of "The Division Bell" in 1994, which marked Pink Floyd's return to the studio and featured their first album in almost two decades. However, the live performance was significant as it coincided with the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that same year. This honor reflected their lasting impact on rock music, highlighted by the emotional depth of their classic tracks like "Wish You Were Here." The collaboration with Corgan showed the band’s influence on a new generation of musicians. Notably, it was one of the first times the surviving members of Pink Floyd had performed together after earlier tensions, making the occasion a poignant celebration of their legacy.
