Grateful Dead

In March 1990, during the performance of "Scarlet Begonias / Fire on the Mountain" in Hamilton, Ontario, the Grateful Dead were in a phase of their career characterized by a successful run in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This period saw them continuing to draw large crowds, showcasing their improvisational skills and blending various musical genres. Before this live recording, the Grateful Dead released the album "In the Dark" in 1987, which included the hit "Touch of Grey," marking a commercial resurgence for the band. The live performance captured in the video is part of the "So Many Roads" compilation album, released posthumously in 1999, which reflects on their extensive touring and the rich legacy they left behind. This era was notable not only for their continued creativity live but also for their engagement with a dedicated fanbase, a hallmark of the Grateful Dead's identity.
