Heart Performs 'Barracuda' on The Midnight Special Concert

Venue: The Midnight Special Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States Date: December 30, 1977

In late 1977, Heart was on the cusp of mainstream success following the release of their acclaimed debut album, "Dreamboat Annie," which came out in 1975 and included the hit singles "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man." By the time of the live recording of "Barracuda" on December 30, 1977, during an appearance on "The Midnight Special," the band had solidified their reputation for powerful performances and exceptional musicianship. This particular performance showcased their hard rock sound and celebrated the release of their album "Little Queen," which came out just after this appearance in May 1977. Notably, "Barracuda" became one of their signature songs and is often remembered for its fierce lyrics and driving instrumentals, reflecting the band's strong feminist themes. This performance helped to further establish Heart’s presence in the rock music scene of the 1970s, particularly as they began to capture a wider audience.
