Widespread Panic Live at O'Neilly's Pub: 'For What It's Worth', 'Chilly Water', 'Let It Rock'

Venue: O'Neilly's Pub Location: Macon, Georgia, United States Date: March 21, 1987

Back in March 1987, when Widespread Panic graced the stage at O'Neilly's Pub in Macon, Georgia, they were still carving out their niche in the burgeoning jam band scene. Just prior to this live recording, they had released their self-titled debut album in 1991, which showcased their blend of Southern rock, blues, and funk influences. Although the band was still in its infancy—having formed just a year earlier in 1986—their performances were already capturing the essence of their improvisational style and infectious energy. It’s interesting to note that during this period, Widespread Panic had yet to achieve the widespread recognition they’d eventually enjoy, but the seeds of their legendary live legacy were undoubtedly being sown. Fast forward years later, and the band's extensive touring and deep catalog would make live recordings like this one a treasure for fans and a doorway to psychedelic experiences that only live music can provide.
