The Walkmen

In September 2007, the Walkmen were riding high on the success of their critically acclaimed album, *Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone*, which had already cemented their place in the indie rock scene. Just prior to this live performance of "Louisiana" at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, they were gaining momentum with their follow-up album, *Pussy Cats*, released in 2006, a unique collaboration with legendary producer and songwriter, Rick Rubin. This period marked a dynamic phase in their career, blending their vintage-inspired sound with fresh, experimental elements. Interestingly, the live recording captures the raw energy and grit that the band brings to their performances—something fans have come to love about them. The ambiance of Williamsburg, a hub for indie music, further enhances the experience, highlighting the Walkmen’s connection to the vibrant music culture of New York City during that era.
