When Rush took the stage at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles on November 26, 1996, they were riding high on the wave of their latest album, "Test for Echo." Released earlier that year, this album marked a significant point in their evolution, showcasing a return to a more raw and energetic sound reminiscent of their earlier works, but still infused with that signature progressive rock flair. An interesting tidbit about this particular era is that "Test for Echo" was the first album that recorded them live after the tragic passing of their friend and producer, Terry Brown, whose influence had shaped much of their earlier sound. It was during this tour that they continued to explore themes of individuality and nature, both of which find expression in the live rendition of “The Trees.” The performance at the forum exemplified the band's enduring appeal and commitment to musical experimentation, making it a treat for fans both old and new.
