Frank Zappa

In February 1988, when Frank Zappa performed at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, he was deep into a transformative era of his career. Just prior to this show, Zappa released the album *Broadway the Hard Way* in 1988, a sharp commentary on the political climate of the time, blending his signature humor with biting social critique. This album showcased not only his musical dexterity but also his willingness to tackle controversial topics—exactly what made him such a provocative figure. The live performance featured tracks like “Find Her Finer” and “Catholic Girls,” which are very much in line with his penchant for blending humor with serious undertones. Interestingly, Zappa’s band at the time consisted of some incredibly talented musicians, including the late, great keyboardist Robert “Bob” Harris, who contributed to the rich, eclectic sound that characterized this era.
