The Flaming Lips

In February of 1988, when The Flaming Lips graced the stage at The Molly Brown in Bozeman, Montana, they were just starting to make waves in the alternative rock scene. By this time, they had released their album *Transmissions from the Satellite Heart* in late 1993, which includes the hit "She Don't Use Jelly." However, prior to that breakthrough, in 1987 they were still promoting their earlier work, *Oh My Gawd!*, a quirky blend of lo-fi sounds and experimental elements. During this live performance, the band showcased some of their more obscure tracks, including "Jesus Shootin' Heroin" and "U.F.O. Story," hinting at their evolving narrative style. What makes this concert particularly captivating is its raw energy and the band's willingness to experiment on stage, something that would become a hallmark of their live shows.
