The Flaming Lips

In June 1996, during the vibrant scene of the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, The Flaming Lips were riding the wave of their album *Clouds Taste Metallic*. Released just a few months earlier in 1995, this album marked a significant point in the band's evolution, as they began to embrace more experimental sounds while still holding onto their core psychedelic rock essence. Interestingly, the live performance of "Brainville" captured during the festival was only the third time the band played this track, highlighting their willingness to take risks and explore new musical territories in a live setting. At this stage in their career, The Flaming Lips were gaining momentum and recognition, setting the stage for their later masterpieces. The energy of live performances like this one not only showcased their dynamic artistry but also illustrated their connection with an emerging fanbase eager for something different in the alternative scene of the '90s.
