The Flaming Lips

Back in March of 1996, The Flaming Lips were riding a wave of creative momentum, following the release of their album *Zaireeka*, which came out just a few months prior in November 1997. This ambitious project, consisting of four separate discs meant to be played simultaneously, really showcased their experimental side, pushing the boundaries of what an album could be. The live recording from Nachtleben in Frankfurt, where they performed on March 18, certainly captures the essence of that period—a time when the band's psychedelic sound was evolving and gaining a distinct, devoted following. Interestingly, this was also the time when their live shows were transforming into even more elaborate theatrical experiences, complete with vibrant visuals and quirky props.
