The Flaming Lips

In May 2002, when The Flaming Lips performed "Do You Realize??" live for the first time at the WFPK Studios in Louisville, they were riding high on the wave from their critically acclaimed album, *Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots*, released just the year before. This album, filled with psychedelic sounds and existential themes, not only solidified their place in the alternative rock scene but also introduced audiences to their innovative blend of experimental elements. At this point in their career, the band was garnering significant attention, and "Do You Realize??" would soon become one of their signature songs. Interestingly, this particular live recording captured the essence of their evolving sound and the emotional weight of their music, which often encourages introspection mixed with a sense of whimsy—a true hallmark of The Flaming Lips’ artistry.
