Back in 2003, when Metallica rocked the stage at Rock im Park in Nuremberg, they were fresh off the release of their album *St. Anger*, which had hit the shelves just a month earlier on June 5. It was definitely a pivotal moment for the band, marking a return to form after a bit of a hiatus since *Reload* in 1997. *St. Anger* showcased a raw, unpolished sound that was a bit of a departure from their earlier work, reflecting some of the turmoil and personal challenges faced by the band members, particularly frontman James Hetfield. The live show captured here not only highlights their fierce energy but also features new tracks from that very album, like "Frantic." It's interesting to note that this was part of their European Festivals Tour, which included other prominent acts like Marilyn Manson and Deftones, creating a powerhouse line-up that truly rocked the festival experience.
