The Who
The Who Live Performance of Their Classics at Scandinavium, Gothenburg
In August 1972, The Who were riding a wave of creativity and acclaim, following the release of their groundbreaking rock opera "Tommy," which had come out a few years earlier, in 1969. At this point in their career, they were known not just for their powerful sound but also for their dynamic live performances, a hallmark that was on full display in the Gothenburg show. Just before this concert, they had released "Who's Next" in 1971, an album that included iconic tracks like "Baba O'Riley" and "Behind Blue Eyes." “Who’s Next” solidified their reputation as rock legends and showcased their ability to blend raw energy with sophisticated songwriting. An interesting tidbit about the Gothenburg performance is that while there are no known audio bootlegs from this concert, the visual footage captures the band's electrifying stage presence, indicative of their peak live prowess—something fans still rave about to this day!
