The Cure

Released just a few months earlier, in May 1987, this album was a pivotal moment for the band, showcasing their signature blend of post-punk and new wave sounds while also delving deeper into pop territories. It featured hits like "Just Like Heaven" and "Why Can't I Be You?"—tracks that would come to define the band's legacy. Interestingly, during this time, The Cure was in the middle of "The Kissing Tour," a mammoth venture with 71 concerts that really demonstrated their growing prominence in the alternative music scene. This San Barbara performance, featuring the iconic Robert Smith alongside his talented ensemble, captured both their evolving musicality and an electrifying energy that resonated with fans. How amazing is it to think that a single performance could encapsulate so much of what defined an era for such a beloved band?
