The Kinks

In 1971, The Kinks were riding high on the success of their earlier album, 'Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One', which had just been released the previous year. This album not only included the iconic 'Lola' but also tackled themes of fame and the music industry, very much reflective of their own experiences. The live recording of 'Apeman' at Colden Auditorium in Queens captures the band's vibrant energy and their unique blend of rock and storytelling. Interestingly, during this period, The Kinks faced various challenges, including a ban from performing in the US, which made their live shows even more significant. This performance is a testament to their resilience and artistry, solidifying their place in rock history as they continued to evolve creatively.
