The Police

In the recording from February 6, 1980, The Police were riding high on the success of their album 'Reggatta de Blanc,' which had been released just a few months earlier in 1979. This album marked a significant moment for the band, featuring hit singles like "Message in a Bottle" and the iconic "Walking on the Moon." Interestingly, 'Reggatta de Blanc' was the first album to earn the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording, further cementing The Police's influence in the music scene. By this time, the trio had transformed from a budding New Wave act into global superstars. The performance at Don Kirshner's Rock Concert showcased their electrifying stage presence and ability to connect with audiences, elements that played a key role in their meteoric rise during this vibrant phase of the late '70s and early '80s.
