The Police

In February 1979, The Police performed live at Hatfield Polytechnic, capturing the raw energy of their early days. Just before this performance, they had released their second studio album, 'Reggatta de Blanc,' which included iconic tracks like 'Message in a Bottle' and 'Walking on the Moon.' This album solidified their place in the punk and reggae-infused rock scene. By this time, they were gaining significant momentum and recognition, marking a transition from the underground to mainstream. The live recording showcases their dynamic stage presence and Sting's unmistakable voice, setting the groundwork for their monumental success in the years to come. Interestingly, 'Truth Hits Everybody,' performed during this gig, reflects the sharp lyricism and musical prowess that would continually evolve as they reached new heights in their career.
