Red Hot Chili Peppers Live in St. Louis at Mississippi Nights 1987

Venue: Mississippi Nights Location: St. Louis, Missouri, United States Date: November 24, 1987

In November 1987, during their performance recorded at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers were riding high on the waves of their self-titled debut album released just a few years earlier in 1984, and their sophomore effort, "Freaky Styley," released in 1985. However, it’s worth noting that "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan," which came out shortly before this show in 1987, marked a pivotal moment in their career. This was the first album to feature all four members of the classic lineup: Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons. The energy and rawness of that live performance reflected their burgeoning popularity, a vivid testament to their funk-infused rock sound. Interestingly, this was also one of the last shows featuring Slovak, who tragically passed away in 1988, making this recording a significant reminder of that dynamic period in the band's history.
