In April 1988, when the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at Provinssi Rockfest, they were riding the wave of their third studio album, *The Uplift Mofo Party Plan*, released just months earlier. This album marked a significant moment for the band, as it was their first to feature the lineup of frontman Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons, which many fans still consider iconic. Tragically, this performance also became memorable for being Hillel Slovak's last before his untimely passing later that same year. The band members have often shared that Slovak’s charismatic guitar work and stage presence were pivotal in shaping their sound. Reflecting on this period, one can’t help but feel the weight of both anticipation and impending loss, as *The Uplift Mofo Party Plan* captured their unique blend of funk and rock just as they stood on the precipice of a transformative era.
