Pixies

In June 2009, when the Pixies delivered a captivating performance at the Where the Action Is festival in Stockholm, they were basking in the resurgence that followed their reunion in 2004. At this point, the band had just released *Pixies: Minotaur*, a lavish box set that compiled their classic work, remastered and celebrated the old hits. This live recording captures a dual performance of “In Heaven (The Lady In The Radiator Song)” and “Gigantic” — two tracks that beautifully showcase their eclectic sound and the band's ability to blend the surreal with the punchy. Interestingly, *Gigantic* is famous for its distinct bassline played by Kim Deal, who was instrumental in defining their sound. This performance came amidst a wave of nostalgia for the alt-rock explosion of the late '80s and '90s, reminding fans of the raw energy and innovation the Pixies brought to the stage, while firmly planting them back into contemporary music conversations.
