Pixies

Back in November 2012, when the live tribute “Plastic Soup - Cactus” was recorded in São Paulo, the Pixies were riding a wave of resurgence. They had reunited in 2004 after a lengthy hiatus and were actively crafting new material. Their most recent album at that time was "EP2," released in January 2014, which followed their 2013 effort "EP1." The group was gradually re-establishing their influence in the alt-rock scene, blending nostalgia with fresh sounds, which is a testament to their enduring legacy. Interestingly, the Pixies are known for their unconventional approaches, like blending punk and surf rock and pioneering loud-quiet dynamics before it was the norm. This live recording by the tribute band captures the spirit and raw energy that made Pixies iconic, showcasing the timelessness of their music and the deep connection fans have with their work.
