Pixies

As of August 28, 2023, when the Pixies performed at Artpark Amphitheater, they were continuing their dynamic trajectory in a career that’s seen significant revival and evolution. Before this show, the band had released "Beneath the Eyrie" in 2019, an album that embraced their signature noise-pop aesthetic while exploring darker themes. Interestingly, this release followed their solid comeback after a decade-long break, which had been marked by a resurgence in their influence, especially within the alternative rock scene. The timing of the Artpark show was particularly engaging, as fans were eager for live renditions of their classic hits like “Gouge Away” and “Wave of Mutilation,” as well as newer tracks, which they showcased in an electrifying set.
