In early 2012, Soundgarden was re-establishing its presence in the music scene after a 16-year hiatus, which followed the release of their last studio album, "Down on the Upside," in 1996. The live recording of "Live to Rise" was significant as it marked the band's first new material in over a decade, specifically created for the soundtrack of "The Avengers." This track was part of their comeback and played a critical role in reintroducing Soundgarden to both new audiences and long-time fans. The band had reunited in 2010, leading up to the release of "King Animal" in late 2012, which showcased their renewed creative energy. "Live to Rise" not only exemplified Soundgarden’s iconic sound but also signified their return to relevance in a changed musical landscape.
