In March 1976, Journey was just finding its footing in the rock scene, having released their self-titled debut album the year prior. This live recording from the Orpheum Theatre in Boston captures the band opening for the Electric Light Orchestra, a combination that must have electrified audiences! Journey's early sound blended progressive rock with pop sensibilities, which is evident in their debut that features tracks like 'Keep on Runnin'' and 'In My Lonely Feeling.' Interestingly, this period marked an experimental phase for the band, adjusting to the music industry’s expectations while honing their iconic style. Though they weren't yet headlining major shows, this performance contributed to their growing reputation and set the stage for their breakout success in the late '70s.
