In July 2017, MGMT performed at the 80/35 Music Festival in Des Moines, showcasing their unique blend of psychedelic pop. This performance came after the release of their third studio album, 'Little Dark Age,' in 2018. However, prior to this live set, they had put out the more experimental album 'MGMT' in 2013, which marked a significant shift in their sound, diverging from the infectious hooks of their debut, 'Oracular Spectacular.' Interestingly, during their set, they played fan favorites like 'Time to Pretend' and 'Kids,' both of which catapulted them to fame back in the late 2000s. Their ability to merge nostalgia with new sounds really shone through in this concert, revealing the duo's evolving artistry while still connecting with their roots.
