In June 2010, during their performance of "Kids" at the Glastonbury Festival, MGMT was riding high on the success of their debut album, "Oracular Spectacular," which had been released in 2007. This album achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, propelling hits such as "Time to Pretend," "Electric Feel," and "Kids" into the spotlight. By the time of the live recording, MGMT had gained a reputation for their vibrant and engaging live performances, which often included psychedelic visuals and spontaneous jam sessions. Interestingly, the band's sound was often described as a blend of psychedelic rock and synth-pop, and their presence at Glastonbury solidified their status as a prominent act in the indie music scene. The festival performance became iconic not only for its energetic delivery but also as part of the band's broader artistic exploration prior to their subsequent, more experimental album, "Congratulations," released in 2010.
