In June 2017, The War on Drugs was at a pivotal moment in their career, having recently released their acclaimed album *A Deeper Understanding* just a few months later, in August 2017. Prior to this acoustic live set at Studio Brussel, the band had built considerable buzz with their 2014 album *Lost in the Dream*, which garnered critical acclaim and positioned them as bright lights in the rock revival scene. During the acoustic performance, they showcased three songs, including "Holding On" and "Red Eyes," highlighting their intricate songwriting and expansive sound, which blends elements of heartland rock, shoegaze, and Americana.
