Hawkwind

In December 2002, Hawkwind performed a live set at the Newcastle Opera House, showcasing their long-standing position as pioneers of space rock and heavy psychedelic music. By this time in their career, they had released their album "Take Me to Your Leader" in 2002, which marked a return to their more electric sound after a period of experimentation with various line-ups and styles. This album was notable for its blend of traditional Hawkwind elements with contemporary influences. Furthermore, during this period, the band's dedication to live performances and improvisation was a key aspect of their identity, maintaining a loyal fan base since their formation in 1969. The live recording of "Assassins of Allah" demonstrates their ability to meld political themes with intense musical exploration, a hallmark of their work throughout the decades.
