Steely Dan

On August 11, 2003, Steely Dan performed “Kid Charlemagne” at the Pine Knob Amphitheatre as part of their "Everything Must Go" tour. Prior to this live performance, the band had released "Two Against Nature" in 2000, which marked their return after a long hiatus and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The “Everything Must Go” album, released in 2003, came out shortly after their tour began, showcasing their signature blend of rock, jazz, and sophisticated lyrics. This tour was significant because it emphasized the band’s continued relevance and their ability to captivate audiences even decades after their initial success. Notably, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, the core duo, were celebrated for their meticulous live sound, incorporating a tight-knit band to deliver high-quality performances that echoed the complexity and artistry of their studio recordings.
