In November 2012, Steely Dan's co-founder Donald Fagen participated in a unique supergroup project known as The Dukes of September, alongside notable artists Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs. At this time, Fagen and Steely Dan were not releasing new studio albums but had recently completed a tour in support of their 2003 album, "Everything Must Go."
