Sparklehorse

In the live recording of "Saturday" on February 19, 2007, Sparklehorse was promoting their album *Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain*, which had been released just a few months earlier, in September 2006. This period marked a significant phase for the band, as it was their first release in six years following the 1999 album *It's a Wonderful Life*. The performance captures the ethereal and melancholic sound that Sparklehorse is known for, with a unique blend of lush instrumentation and introspective lyrics. Interestingly, the band was fronted by Mark Linkous, whose struggles with mental health and personal turmoil often influenced his songwriting, adding an emotional depth to their performances. This in-studio session at The Current reflects the band's continued exploration of their signature sound during a pivotal moment in their career.
